New Orleans Schools
"New Orleans was the worst-performing of the 100-largest U.S. school districts"
According to this article. I wish it wasn't filed under "World Crises" but that's probably an apt title. One can hardly doubt that it was our poor public education system that put us in the economic and crime situation that we face here today. Hopefully we have a way out.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I think in 10 years, we could look back and say that Katrina was the best thing to happen to this city, not the least of which would be washing out our deplorable school system and replacing it with a new one.
