Any news from Jefferson Parish residents who returned?
If anybody has news from anybody who has headed back into Jefferson Parish, please post it in the comments. I'll keep this on top for a while.

I posted this one further down the page: "Today, I have two friends who are nurses, and they put on scrubs and their LSU healthcare ID’s and were able to get in. They made it to their house and were able to get some things out. They live right behind the Target at Clearview Shopping Center. However, believe it or not, they each carried pistols, and while one got some things out, the other stood on the front porch with a pistol in hand. They saw a couple of people walking down the street with shopping carts – I suppose seeing what they could get. As of today their house had not been looted, but one of the folks walking by with a shopping cart asked them how their house had fared and after my friend gave a cursory answer and showed they had a firearm, the person quickly left. Can you believe we live in times like this???"
I returned to Metairie today (my house is near Rummel HS between Napoleon and I10 on Danny Park). There is mostly damage to trees and some damage to houses. I actually expected it to be a lot worse.
My house did have some flooding. It looks like there was about 6 inches of water in there at some point. This sounds good so far, but....
The big problem is MOLD. I will probably lose 80% of my property and will have to basically rebuild all of the walls and floors (not sure about roof damage yet) because of the mold.
But, of course, I am still alive, everyone I know is alive and well, and I have a job. So, I am one of the lucky ones.
I am going back tomorrow to rip out carpets and clean the floors and get all of my clothes to try to wash to save them from moldy air. The least I can do is try to stop the mold from growing since I can't make it go away.
Jude - I will send you pictures once I have them developed.
