Latest forecast

"I expect Katrina to remain a Category 5 hurricane and I think she will come onshore between 5 and 8 am CDT Monday morning as a 160 to 170 mph Category 5 hurricane. The center of Katrina is forecasted to track across Southeastern Louisiana from Grand Isle to about 5 miles east of downtown New Orleans and then into central St. Tammany and eastern Washington Parishes. In addition, weather conditions will get worse before midnight tonight and then much dramatically worse after midnight tonight and dangerous hurricane conditions will continue through the day on Monday. Again, I want to emphasize this is a life threatening and potentially catastrophic hurricane, if you have not evacuated, consult local officials for shelters of last resort. "
